The Walnut Creek Police Department turns to the public for help in a recent pickpocketing incident, releasing a video last week in a call to action. On their official social media, the Walnut Creek Police Department posted, "We are asking again for the community’s assistance in identifying the suspects in this crime." They have urged anyone with information to contact them directly at 925-935-6400 or email Det. Matt Smith at [email protected].
Additional crime coverage came from Henry K. Lee, who noted a detailed orchestration among the pickpocketing trio. "Watch how 3 scofflaws work together to pickpocket woman shopping at downtown @Safeway, per @walnutcreekpd. Guy steals wallet as woman acts as lookout, then hands it off to 2nd guy walking down aisle," Lee posted. His post included an update that presented close-up photos of the suspects to aid the police and the public in their quest to identify them.
The crime occurred in a bustling downtown Safeway, where security cameras captured the group in action. The video shows one suspect sneakily removing a wallet from an unsuspecting shopper's bag, as another distracts and a third stands ready to disappear with the stolen goods.
