The Wentzville Police Department in Missouri announced on Facebook that Officer Hooks has been named Employee of the Month in recognition of an action that extended beyond routine duty.
During what might have been a routine traffic stop, Officer Hooks found three young children in the back seat of a vehicle without appropriate car seats or restraints. Recognizing the serious risks involved, Officer Hooks took immediate action to ensure the children's safety. As noted in the Department's post, "She personally purchased and delivered three car seats to the family."
Officer Hooks was recognized by the Police Department, which stated, "Her thoughtful and decisive actions not only protected the children, but demonstrated a level of care and professionalism that defines community policing." In addition, Officer Hooks' dedication and compassion "represent the very best of WPD."
