
The Westfield Police Department is extending an open invitation to the local community for its annual Jake Laird Community Day, coinciding with National Night Out, an event designed to fortify the bonds between law enforcement and residents. The community-focused event is scheduled to take place at Quaker Park on August 5 from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., as announced in a social media post by the Westfield Police Department.
Jake Laird Community Day is open to "the entire Westfield community" and will feature a variety of activities including K9 demonstrations, specialized equipment displays; alongside bounce houses for kids, community vendors, and free food and music, the post outlined a day filled with opportunities for community members to engage with their local police force in a relaxed, festive environment. The event also has bike and backpack giveaways to add a sense of excitement and communal generosity as outlined in the post, as per the Westfield Police Department.
National Night Out, of which Jake Laird Community Day is a part, is a nationwide initiative celebrated across the United States with the goal of enhancing police-community partnerships and fostering a sense of togetherness in neighborhoods.
