Last Wednesday, authorities in Baden were dispatched to a shooting incident that left a 29-year-old woman critically injured — the violent encounter followed an argument, the St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department reports. The altercation occurred in the 8400 block of Gast, with police arriving on the scene shortly before 5 a.m., they found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound; emergency medical services responded swiftly, transporting her to a local hospital where she is in critical but stable condition, according to SLMPD.
In a statement, officials detailed a preliminary investigation which revealed the shooting stemmed from a dispute between the victim and a 26-year-old woman, during the exchange of heated words the younger woman purportedly drew a firearm shooting the older, and a 27-year-old woman then hid the assailant in her home, a move that led to her arrest for harboring the shooter from law enforcement officials. The 26-year-old suspect was taken into custody without further incident.
As of now, the investigation is ongoing and additional details about the circumstances leading up to the shooting and the identities of the involved parties have not been released. Local residents have been left to grapple with the reality of gun violence permeating their community, a reminder of the tensions that simmer beneath calm facades.
The St. Louis Metropolitan Police Department's District 6 remains vigilant, continuing their inquiry into the specifics of this regrettable outbreak of violence that ruptured the early morning peace, the repercussions of which have rippled forth touching lives and sowing the seeds of unease.
