A woman has been found dead in a Chandler apartment complex following a domestic disturbance call, with a man now in custody after he barricaded himself in a bathroom. According to ABC15, the Chandler Police Department received a call concerning an argument and a noise resembling a gunshot on the afternoon of July 25 near Arizona Avenue and Chandler Boulevard.
Officers arriving at the scene discovered the apartment door ajar and an unresponsive woman inside. She was quickly to be pulled outside and pronounced dead at the scene. ABC15 reported a second woman contacted the police to alert them that her son was armed, had locked himself in a bathroom, and was refusing to exit. The Chandler Police SWAT was subsequently called in, which utilized less-lethal tools and a police K9 to safely apprehend the man. He was later transported to a hospital due to injuries sustained during the arrest.
Inside the apartment, a handgun and a spent casing were found, hinting at a possible discharge of the firearm. "They screamed at me, telling me to go, go inside and stay safe or something, and then I saw that they had guns and barriers and a bunch of other stuff," recounted Alisson Garcia, a neighbor, to FOX 10 Phoenix. Another local resident, Danna Dominguez, noticed the heightened police presence as well, saying, "All we saw was little robots going around and drones up in the air."
