According to the department's news release, the event occurred on 560 Foundry St., where officers responded to a report of a person shot at approximately 11:09 pm.
The victim, a female, managed to take herself to the hospital after suffering a gunshot wound to the leg, now law enforcement officers are trying to pin down the sequence of events that led to her injury, the release from the Atlanta PD stated that preliminary information points to the woman having left the area with a male acquaintance before returning with the injury shortly thereafter although they haven't released any updates on the suspect or the current condition of the victim at this time.
While the APD has not yet disclosed any suspects or made arrests related to the shooting, the investigation is actively ongoing as they work to ascertain the motive and complete picture of the attack. The authorities are urging anyone with information about the incident to come forward.
