An armed robbery suspect was recently arrested following an incident that occurred at King Smoke Shop in Dartmouth. According to a social media post by the Dartmouth Police Department, 40-year-old Woonsocket resident Muhammad Sheikh is accused of committing the crime on the evening of July 18.

The report outlined that Sheikh, at 6:18 p.m., entered the smoke shop, brandishing a knife and threatening to kill the employees while attempting to intimidate them by slashing the weapon towards them. Sheikh allegedly stole a cash register containing around seven hundred dollars before fleeing in a gray 2025 Honda Civic. The car was later confirmed as being registered to Sheikh.

In response to the incident, Dartmouth Police promptly issued a "Be On The Look Out" (BOLO) alert that was taken up by neighboring law enforcement agencies. The Providence Police Department managed to locate the suspect vehicle within their jurisdiction, and Sheikh was detained without further incident.

Following his apprehension, Dartmouth Police Department has charged Sheikh with a number of offenses, including armed robbery, assault with a dangerous weapon, threat to commit a crime (murder), assault and battery, malicious destruction of property, and operating a motor vehicle with a suspended license. The Dartmouth Police extended their thanks to the Providence Police for their "swift assistance in this matter."
