An incident unfolded in Avoyelles Parish, where a juvenile was killed in a vehicular accident yesterday afternoon. The Louisiana State Police reported a fatal crash on Louisiana Highway 114 that resulted in the death of a 16-year-old from Bunkie. The crash, which remains under thorough investigation, occurred just west of Louisiana Highway 1185 around 3:30 p.m.
The preliminary details suggest that the juvenile was driving a 2006 Ford Escape which, for undetermined reasons, went out of control and left the road to smash into multiple trees. During this event, another 16-year-old, a passenger, was restrained and, yet sustained fatal injuries. The driver, who was not wearing a seatbelt at the time of the crash, sustained moderate injuries and was taken to a nearby hospital.
According to the official press release, investigators have collected toxicology samples for analysis, a standard procedure in such vehicular incidents. The results of this analysis could provide critical information on the cause of the accident.
