The apprehension occurred following a vehicle pursuit involving U.S. Border Patrol and Texas Department of Public Safety officers, who noticed four individuals illegally entering the U.S. and getting into a sedan, KTSM reports.
Upon the authorities' attempt to stop the car, the adolescent driver allegedly ignored commands, leading to a short chase that ended when law enforcement deployed a vehicle immobilization device to disable the vehicle. According to The Latin Times, Border Patrol Chief Michael Banks stated, "Law enforcement swiftly activated a vehicle immobilization device that brought the car to a stop." The youth now faces state charges for the smuggling attempt.
Meanwhile, the four migrants found in the teen's vehicle will be "processed according to immigration law," Banks noted.
