The Antioch Police Department continues its pursuit to solve the homicide of Kevin Vandenbos, a case that has lingered without resolution since the fateful evening of July 11, 2024. Vandenbos was shot and killed at 600 Wilbur Avenue at approximately 7:29 p.m., as detailed in a press release from the Antioch Police. Despite a year of investigations, which included interviews and sifting through digital and forensic evidence, detectives have yet to piece together the events of that night definitively.
A fresh appeal has been issued by Antioch detectives, who are now actively asking for the community's help to close the chapter on this case finally. Specifically, they are looking for a witness who appears in a surveillance screenshot attached to the initial appeal. In an attempt to rally public support, Detective John Cox implores anyone with information about the identity of this individual to make contact at (925) 481-8147 or via email at [email protected].
The ongoing investigation is also further highlighted by a report from Hoodline, recalling the chilling aftermath of the shooting at the apartment complex. The Antioch Police Department responded to the distressing scene, only to discover Vandenbos with injuries that would not allow him to survive the night. The Violent Crimes Unit, along with Crime Scene Investigators, took charge of probing into the murder. The identity of the perpetrators and the motive behind the killing remained veiled in mystery.
The Antioch Police Department ensured in a press statement that updates, if any, will come directly from its Investigations Bureau. They encourage those with valuable information to dial the Media Access Telephone Line at 925-779-6874.
