Several new programs have been introduced in Arizona to help families cover the costs of air conditioning replacements and repairs. In July, ABC15's Smart Shopper Marzia Munari experienced a central air failure in her home, affecting her, her elderly mother, and her daughter with Down syndrome. Munari described the situation as difficult due to the high summer temperatures.

Retail giant Walmart has partnered with Bryant Heating & Cooling Systems to offer discounts, extended warranties, and payment plans for HVAC services. Walmart spokesperson Amanda DuBose stated, "Most customers we’ve spoken to say repairing a unit is up to $15,000." Local HVAC company Parker & Sons is offering their Super Summer Savings Bundle, which includes discounts, free maintenance, and interest-free payment plans. Senior technician Riley Caterson told ABC15 that air conditioning is essential for residents in Arizona.

Non-profit AllThrive365 is distributing free central air conditioning systems to qualifying households, supported by funding from the state's utility companies. An 85-year-old woman who had lived without AC for two years contacted the organization via a fax machine and received assistance. Katie Martin of AllThrive365 told ABC15, "She reached out to us through a fax machine, that’s the only technology she had."

Parker & Sons is accepting nominations for a local senior to receive a free AC unit through an event running until August 15th. Munari, who experienced central air failure in her home, told Yahoo News, "I’m sure I’m not the only one that needs help." The programs offered by businesses and nonprofits will continue through the summer to provide air conditioning assistance to qualifying Arizona families.
