A brazen daylight robbery took place in Memphis when an armored truck was hijacked by three gunmen. The Memphis Police Department reported a crime that occurred yesterday at a Kroger store located at 1212 East Shelby Drive, according to the department's official news release.
Witness accounts and police statements describe how a Loomis armored truck was intercepted around 11:05 a.m. by suspects in a black Nissan Murano during what was supposed to be a routine cash pickup; the perpetrators, brandishing AR-style rifles, forced the armored truck courier to the ground then proceeded to haul two large bags of cash from the vehicle before fleeing northbound towards Raines Road, the getaway car bore an unreadable temporary tag complicating the immediate identification of the assailants.
Memphis Police have released descriptions of the suspects: all three are thin-built Black males wearing black hoodies, with the distinction of white pants on one and black pants on the other two suspects, each armed with an AR-style rifle at the time of the robbery.
