Residents of Atlanta can expect a mix of sunny and stormy conditions in the coming week. The sun will be mostly shining today with a high temperature reaching near 85 degrees and a calm breeze that will eventually shift to the east at around 5 mph. In the evening, clouds will gather, and there's a slight chance there could be some showers and thunderstorms post the stroke of 2 am. This pattern of night-time rain possibilities continues into the weekend with a 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Saturday, according to the latest forecast from the National Weather Service.

Despite these nightly disruptions, the days seem to remain relatively clear. Sunday will see mostly sunny skies with a high near 83, accompanied by an east wind blowing 5 to 10 mph, as noted by the Weather.gov forecast. However, there is a 20 percent chance of rain starting abruptly, arriving after 2 pm. Labor Day celebrations might also have to contend with potential showers, as there’s a 30 percent chance for precipitation in the afternoon.

The weather pattern for the first half of the coming week appears to be a consistent cycle of sunny days and partly cloudy nights with intermittent chances for showers and thunderstorms. Monday night holds a 30 percent chance of rainfall, while Tuesday, mostly sunny, maintains this 30 percent likelihood of rain during the afternoon hours. Tuesday night follows suit with the same odds of nighttime rain.

The possibility for wet conditions seems to ease slightly as the week progresses, with Wednesday and Wednesday night both having a 30 percent chance, as per the NWS forecast, of showers and thunderstorms. By the time Thursday rolls around, the threat of rain decreases a bit with only a 20 percent chance of thunderstorms in a mostly sunny setting.
