Bloomington Parks and Recreation has recently named Leslie Brinson as the new Recreation Services Division Director, a move that takes effect from August 18. Brinson is set to bring over twenty years of experience in leadership, with a background in recreation programming, event planning, and program administration to the table.
Tim Street, the CDirector of Parks and Recreation, expressed his confidence in Brinson's ability, stating, "We are thrilled that Leslie is stepping up into this leadership role." According to an announcement made by the City of Bloomington, Brinson's vast experience is anticipated to greatly contribute to the community through inventive event and program strategies.
Brinson's educational qualifications include a Bachelor of Science in education from Centre College in Danville, Kentucky. Moreover, she has shown commendable initiative in her professional career, having taken up leadership roles in state and national associations such as the Indiana Park and Recreation Association and the National Recreation and Park Association. In a time as trying as the COVID-19 pandemic, Brinson was pivotal in navigating through the obstacles, devising innovative ways to safely offer programs for residents of all ages, as described in her department's press release.
Her competence was particularly evident during the Commission for Accreditation of Park and Recreation Agencies (CAPRA) reviews, where under her guidance, Parks and Recreation was able not only to meet but to score perfectly on all 154 standards in 2021. The outcome of the most recent CAPRA accreditation process, completed this year, is eagerly awaited with results to be disclosed in October.
