The Boston Police Department is reaching out to the public to help identify a suspect involved in an armed robbery that took place in Roxbury. According to the department's official statement, the incident occurred on Saturday evening, around 6:55 PM, in the vicinity of Ruggles Street and Leon Street. The suspect, who is reported to have lifted his shirt to indicate possession of a weapon, took off with the victim’s electric scooter.
Surveillance images show the suspect to be a Black male, standing around 6 feet tall with a slim build. During the time of the robbery, he was clad in a dark-colored t-shirt, black track pants, and a black hat. Detectives from District B-2, which encompasses Roxbury, are to actively investigate the event to seek leads that might bring in the suspect.
Public participation is critical to this case, and the Boston Police encourage anyone with information to come forward. Tips can be shared with District B-2 Detectives at (617) 343-4275. The department also provides multiple avenues for anonymous reporting, including a dedicated phone line at 1-800-494-TIPS, by texting "TIP" to CRIME (27463), or through an online submission at Boston Police CrimeStoppers.
As part of their outreach, the Boston Police specified that they would "strictly protect the identities of those who wish to assist this investigation confidentially."
