Boulder County authorities have arrested Dominic Vigil on charges related to child sexual exploitation material (CSAM), following an investigation by multiple local agencies and the Colorado Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force. The investigation began when ICAC received tips from the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children pointing to the dissemination of CSAM on various social media platforms. These tips were subsequently handed over to the Boulder County Digital Forensics Lab (BCDFL) for deeper analysis, revealing Vigil's alleged involvement not only in the distribution but also in the active sexual abuse of a child.
Investigators identified patterns across the cybertips that suggested that they were dealing with a single suspect, leading them to Dominic Vigil's operation within Boulder County. As part of their efforts, officers executed a search and arrest warrant, taking Vigil into custody on July 24, as stated by Boulder County. He is currently being held on a $500,000 cash/surety bond, with the District Attorney's Office pushing for a secured bond due to the perceived threat he poses to the community.
The collaborative effort to arrest and charge Vigil involved the BCDFL, Longmont Department of Public Safety, Boulder County Sheriff's Office, the District Attorney's Office, and the Boulder Police Department. Additional information or contacts from potential victims or witnesses are being encouraged through Detective Amanda Jonas at 303-651-8501, Detective Sergeant Todd Chambers at 303-651-8521, or District Attorney Investigator Kevin Brough at 303-441-3700.
