A 19-year-old is facing a multitude of charges after being connected to a recent shooting in Boston that injured a teenage boy. Isaac Gonzalez of Brighton was apprehended by a collective force of local and state law enforcement officers yesterday morning, as the Boston Police Department reported. The arrest is part of an ongoing firearm investigation following an incident where a 15-year-old was shot.
Officers who are part of the Youth Violence Strike Force, alongside members from various agencies, were to decisively coordinate in taking Gonzalez into custody. The collaboration included Massachusetts State Police VFAS and Gang Unit, Suffolk County Sheriff’s Department, Department of Youth Services Apprehension Unit, and Boston Housing Authority Police. Gonzalez was arrested without incident at an address in Boston.
The original shooting event took place on the evening of July 30, where officers found a juvenile male victim with a gunshot wound after a call for help in Roxbury. According to the Boston Police Department, the injury was non-life-threatening, and the victim received medical attention at a local hospital. B-2 Detectives identified the scene of the shooting at another nearby location in Boston.
Investigators were able to eventually pinpoint Gonzalez as the suspect after an "extensive follow-up investigation" which examined both physical and digital evidence. Following this development, an arrest and search warrant were issued for Gonzalez and his Brighton residence. He now faces serious charges including carrying a loaded firearm without a license, assault and battery with a dangerous weapon, and unlawful possession of ammunition, among others.
Gonzalez is scheduled to be arraigned in West Roxbury District Court. His charges delineate a troubling depiction of gun violence within the community, and the concerted efforts by law enforcement to address such incidents.
