A Bronx man has been arrested and charged in relation to possessing a trove of child pornography, including images and videos of young children. The U.S. Attorney's Office, made the announcement regarding the charges against Carlos Rivas. Rivas was apprehended and subsequently appeared before U.S. Magistrate Judge Robert W. Lehrburger.

In the detailed complaint, it is alleged that Rivas was in possession of hundreds of illegal files over a summer month while working at a Bronx school, identified only as "School-1." The illicit content was reportedly found on his account with an electronic service provider's file storage service. Some of the child pornography in question was linked to an Internet Protocol address from School-1, as per the press release.

"As alleged, Carlos Rivas possessed hundreds of images and videos of child pornography while working at a Bronx school," Jay Clayton said in a statement. "Child pornography has no place anywhere in our society, particularly anywhere connected to a school.  Our devoted prosecutors and partners will unrelentingly fight this scourge," as reported by the U.S. Attorney's Office. Rivas, 22, is facing serious charges that could lead to a 20-year maximum sentence inside a federal penitentiary.

Homeland Security Investigations was commended by Mr. Clayton for its role in the investigation. Assistant U.S. Attorney Rita Maxwell is leading the prosecution, which is being handled by the Office’s General Crimes Unit.
