Four days after being separated, a Bronx man was reunited with his stolen dog. Charles Williams, 45, was reunited with his American Bully, Roc, who was taken while he was asleep on the D train in the early hours of Sunday, according to The New York Post.
Facing homelessness and being turned away from shelters because of Roc, the subway became their temporary refuge. "I want to cry," Williams said in a statement obtained by PIX11 News after their reunion. "He's the only family that I have," as cited by The New York Post.
Surveillance footage showed a slender suspect with medium-length braids, estimated to be 20-25 years old, stealing Roc. ABC7 New York reported that an unknown person later returned the dog to the 44th Precinct. The NYPD is still searching for the suspect, while Williams holds on tighter than ever to his "best friend."
The NYPD has circulated an image of the suspect, urging anyone with knowledge of the incident to contact the Crime Stoppers Hotline.
