Broward County Commissioner Steve Geller has been appointed to the Florida Association of Counties' (FAC) Community & Urban Affairs Policy Committee. In this position, he will focus on key statewide issues, including affordable housing, growth management, and transportation. In a press release issued by Broward County, Geller stated, "I'm honored to be selected to serve on the Community & Urban Affairs Policy Committee."
The committee plays a role in shaping policy proposals that can impact local governance across the state. FAC President Michelle Lincoln appointed Geller to the committee, highlighting the committee’s function in the organization’s broader legislative efforts. "Our policy committees guide the ideas and priorities we pursue as an association," Lincoln said in the press release. Geller previously served as a Florida State Senator and Senate Minority Leader.
Through this appointment, Geller will contribute to discussions that help form the FAC’s Legislative Action Plan, the association’s advocacy strategy for the upcoming year. His previous work in economic development and infrastructure connects with the committee's focus areas.
Prior to his current role in Broward County, Geller led initiatives in housing and transportation. As stated in a Broward County release, "I look forward to working with my colleagues from around Florida to develop thoughtful policies that strengthen our communities and protect the quality of life for future generations," Geller said.
