
Early this morning, a young girl experienced the stark reality of her neighborhood's safety concerns when a stray bullet grazed her as she slept in her Northwest Miami-Dade home. At approximately 3:15 a.m., the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office was dispatched to the 69th Avenue and Northwest 173rd Drive area following reports of a shooting. According to Local 10, the victim sustained minor injuries to her lower extremities.
The shooting occurred in a residential area. As reported by NBC Miami, the girl's injuries were non-life-threatening, and she was treated by Miami-Dade Fire Rescue on the scene.
Deputies from the Miami-Dade Sheriff's Office, along with personnel from Miami-Dade Fire Rescue, responded promptly to the incident. The scene became the focus of an active investigation, as officials sought to piece together the events that led to this ominous occurrence. The Northwest General Investigations Unit (GIU) detectives are taking the lead on this case, according to a statement obtained by 7News Miami.
