
Attention all hunters and nature enthusiasts, the City of Lawton has announced that it is now accepting applications for its annual Elk Hunt for the year 2025. Those interested in participating can obtain an application from the Lakes Headquarters on Highway 58, the City Clerk's Office on SW Ninth Street, or by downloading from the City of Lawton's official website. A valid Oklahoma hunting license is a requirement to be eligible for the drawing.
As stated by the City of Lawton's announcement, applicants have until 5 p.m. on September 12, 2025, to submit their applications, accompanied by a $25 administrative fee payable via check, money order, or cashier's check. Reminding participants with enthusiasm, cash payments are not accepted. All applications should be turned in either to the Lakes Headquarters or the City Clerk's Office.
The anticipation for the Elk Hunt is expected to peak on September 17, where the names of the lucky hunters will be drawn at 4:15 p.m. during the Lakes and Lands Commission meeting. The City Hall Banquet Room, located on 212 SW 9th Street, will serve as the venue for this event, as reported by the City of Lawton.
With two hunting periods on the schedule, the chosen participants will have their chance to partake in the Elk Hunt either between October 9–12 or from December 18–21. Working closely with winners to arrange hunt times, city staff are preparing to ensure a seamless coordination, as eagerly shared by the City of Lawton's announcement.
