As per the City of Norman news release, Norman garnered this accolade for its Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year that came to a close on June 30, 2024. This certificate isn't just a piece of paper — it's the GFOA's top honor for government accounting and reporting excellence.
An objective panel gave the nod to Norman's financial documentation, praising its comprehensive disclosure practices and clarity in conveying the city's fiscal narrative. The aim was not just to simply put out a report – the city consciously aimed to motivate users and interest groups to thoroughly engage with the financial data presented. This approach reflects a broader spirit that has been commendably recognized on a national level.
"We continue to take great pride in the fine work of Clint Mercer, CPA, and our accounting staff in living up to our goal of being completely transparent in reporting on the finances of the City of Norman and our related Authorities and Trusts," told Anthony Francisco, City of Norman Finance Director, in a modest nod to the tireless efforts of his team.
