An armed standoff in Clackamas County that kept deputies and a SWAT team engaged for two hours has ended in a guilty plea. Rian Keith Pittman, 35, will now face 60 months in prison following his admission of guilt to multiple charges, including Unlawful Use of a Weapon and Menacing, according to an official statement from the Clackamas County Sheriff's Office. The plea deal, finalized last Friday, dismisses some charges while cementing his conviction for others.
On the night of July 8, law enforcement was alerted to a situation on Southeast Monroe Street, where Pittman, wielding a semi-automatic handgun, had reportedly fired shots inside a house and threatened the other occupants. After ensuring the residents were safely outside, responding units from the Clackamas County Sheriff’s Office and Milwaukie Police Department awaited the arrival of the Special Weapons and Tactics Team. A Crisis Negotiation Team was also called in, encouraging Pittman to surrender, which he did shortly after 11:00 p.m., as noted in the official release.
The Clackamas County Circuit Court validated Pittman's rap sheet with criminal convictions across California, Washington, Oregon, and Nevada. The recovery of the handgun from the scene left little question as to his possession and usage of the weapon in the incident in question.
