A 16-year-old from Clarkston is expected to be arraigned on charges today, following an incident involving the shooting of another teen at Oakwood Lake Township Park in Oxford Township. The Oakland County Sheriff's Office reported that the altercation took place during a party last Friday, as stated in a FOX 2 Detroit article. The victim—a 17-year-old Oxford Township boy—told authorities that an argument ensued after the suspect pointed a laser in his eyes, eventually leading to gunfire around 11:30 p.m., where the victim sustained a non-fatal gunshot wound to the wrist.
Following the incident, the accused fled the scene and was apprehended the next day at around noon in a Springfield Township mobile home park. According to a report by Mid Michigan Now, the suspect is now held at the Oakland County Children's Village. Oakland County Sheriff Michael Bouchard has been quoted, emphasizing the gravity of the situation, "This is unacceptable on so many levels," as the department continues to investigate how the teenager acquired the firearm used in the offense.
The victim was taken to the hospital following the shooting, where he was treated and released. Meanwhile, the sheriff's office is urging anyone with pertinent information to come forward, as noted in a ClickOnDetroit report. The community has been asked to assist by contacting the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office at 248-858-4950 with any details that may support their ongoing investigation.
