Clarksville residents can now take a sigh of relief as the realigned Dunbar Cave Road opens for public use. Completing ahead of the anticipated schedule, the recent phase of construction was aimed to elevate the existing road for future expansion, according to a statement from the City of Clarksville. The city's initiative poised itself to align Dunbar Cave Road with Cardinal Lane, improving one of the linchpins of the region's transportation network.
The city had pushed the construction timeline forward in a bid to finish before the start of the new CMCSS school year. Despite ongoing roadwork in the area, traffic is expected to continue as usual, which should be a shot in the arm for the daily commuter's battle with time and tardiness. “Progress is painful, but it is short-term pain for a longer-term gain, and in this case the road improvements along Rossview Road and Dunbar Cave Road will improve traffic safety for everyone,” Clarksville Mayor Joe Pitts mentioned in the recent update.
The completion marks another tick against the comprehensive strategy outlined in the Mayor’s Transportation 2020+ plan. This strategic plan outlines a series of infrastructural upgrades to support the expanding community. The City of Clarksville has been actively investing in its roads and transportation corridors in a bid to stay abreast of the growing traffic demands.
Mayor Pitts lauded the expeditious efforts of contractors going beyond the call to finish ahead of time. “I appreciate the diligence of our contractor for moving as quickly as possible on this rather large project – actually getting it done ahead of schedule,” Mayor Pitts said, revealing the city's commitment to improved municipal efficiencies. The ongoing transportation projects are part of an expansive agenda, highlighting the city's dedicated efforts to upgrade its infrastructure and prepare the groundwork for future generations.
