A school bus from Cleveland Independent School District (Cleveland ISD) overturned this morning, causing anxiety among students, parents, and the community. The incident, which occurred on FM 1010, involved students from Cleveland High School and Cleveland Ninth Grade Center. According to Click2Houston, the bus flipped and came to rest on its side in a ditch, yet, fortunately, there were no reports of serious injuries among the students.
Following the accident, all students on board were evacuated and are undergoing medical evaluations at the North Service Center by trained personnel, as per information provided by the district. Cleveland ISD's Transportation Department reached out to inform parents and guardians directly and provided notifications through SMART Tag. Officials stated that if a student does not attend Cleveland High School or the Ninth Grade Center, and no call or SMART Tag notification has been received, their child was not on the bus involved.
The KHOU article adds that students who are cleared medically will return to their respective campuses, where they will be further monitored by school nurses. Those in need of additional medical attention will either be transported to the hospital by EMS or released to their parents at the North Service Center.
Meanwhile, emergency responders, Cleveland ISD leadership, and law enforcement, are maintaining a presence at the scene, ensuring the safety of the students and investigating the crash circumstances. The district has pledged regular updates, sharing verified information as it becomes available.
