Collective Retreats on Governors Island has opened for its 2025 season. Located an eight-minute ferry ride from downtown Manhattan, the site offers accommodations in a quieter setting with natural surroundings and open views.

The only overnight lodging facility on Governors Island, this glamping site includes 29 accommodations that differ from standard city stays. Located within a 172-acre area, the site is designed for extended visits. In a statement to ABC7 New York, Evan Pravda, Senior General Manager at Collective Retreats, stated that the aim is to offer experiences that allow guests to create memories similar to those from childhood trips.

Accommodation options vary in style and amenities. According to a press release from PR Newswire, the site offers Journey Tents for those seeking a simple overnight stay, and Basecamp Cabins that include features such as soaking tubs and handheld showers. At the upper end is The Summit Suite, which features amenities comparable to a boutique hotel room, including folding glass walls.

The retreat offers a range of activities that combine relaxation with social engagement. Options include morning yoga, lawn games, live music, and fire pits, which contribute to a communal atmosphere. For those interested in exploring beyond the retreat, Governors Island features walking trails, hammock areas, and art installations. Dining is available at Three Peaks Lodge, where guests can enjoy farm-to-Island meals, described as "really, really good" by Evan Pravda in his remarks to ABC7 New York.

For those planning corporate retreats or weddings in a quiet setting, the retreat also accommodates group events and full buyouts, according to PR Newswire. Rates begin at $249 per night and include amenities such as daily breakfast, evening s’mores, and Wi-Fi in common areas.

The last ferries return at 10 p.m., allowing visitors the option of an overnight stay or an evening visit for activities such as watching the sunset or having a cocktail with a view of the Statue of Liberty.
