According to the event report published by Portland.gov, the celebration saw over 100 locals mingling to bolster the Safe Blocks Program's push for stronger community ties and equitable resource access. As attendees dined on Taylor Made Comfort Food and cooled off with ice cream courtesy of Safe Blocks, the unity was palpable amidst the fun and games.
Facilitated by the Portland Bureau of Transportation's Play Streets program, the event was packed with interactive activities like cornhole, jumbo Jenga, and Connect Four – all designed to draw individuals of various age groups into a space of casual competition and laughter. Trying to foster positive relations, the Portland Police Bureau also attended, offering a hand in building bridges with the community. Day One Tech also stepped up, contributing to the party with complimentary haircuts and spearheading STEM-driven fascination among the younger attendees through LEGO challenges and remote-controlled car demonstrations.
