On Friday, a fire broke out in a home on Four Seasons Road in DeKalb County due to an electrical fault. The DeKalb County Fire Department said firefighters were called around 9:15 a.m. after reports of smoke coming from the house’s crawl space.

Firefighters responded to a home where moderate smoke was coming from the subfloor area. All occupants had evacuated safely. Inside the subfloor, they found the cause: "an electrical heat lamp connected to power that was exposed to a water pipe leak,” which caused a short circuit and charring of the subfloor. Damage to the home was minimal, and the fire was quickly contained, as reported by the DeKalb County Fire Department.

According to the DeKalb County Fire Department on their Facebook page, the department, along with Four Seasons, Midway, Short Mountain Hwy., and Main stations, DeKalb County Emergency Medical Services, and the Sheriff’s Department, responded to a home fire. The fire, caused by an electrical heat lamp coming into contact with water from a pipe leak, resulted in no injuries or major damage. Residents were reminded to keep electrical appliances away from water sources.
