Commuters in Destrehan and surrounding areas should prepare for changes in traffic patterns as multiple road construction projects are expected to impact local and state routes. St. Charles Parish has announced upcoming road closures, and residents are advised to stay informed to plan their travel accordingly.
Firstly, Ormond Center Court is congested between 150 Ormond Center Court, near Rotolo's Pizza, and 3001 Ormond Boulevard, close to Buddy's Frostop, due to ongoing construction. Additionally, Jonathan Street has been closed since August 1, with no clear timeline for reopening. Emergency vehicles are now directed to use Bunge’s heavy haul road or, as an alternative, Noel Street located behind the affected facility.
State roads are also affected by this transition. LA 628 (CC Road) will be fully closed in both directions just north of Vickers Lane and the railroad crossing due to construction related to the Montz Pump Station Project. The closure began on August 4 and is scheduled to continue until tomorrow. Detours have been recommended via US 61, LA 3217, or LA 628 (River Road) to accommodate the redirected traffic.
On a separate note, the full closure of LA 48 (River Road) in both westbound and eastbound directions is scheduled due to work on the overhead pipe rack at Bunge North America. The closure will begin at 7 p.m. tomorrow and continue until 5 a.m. on August 25. Detour signs will direct drivers to use I-310 to help navigate around the construction area.
