Detroit authorities are issuing a call to arms to the local community as they ramp up efforts to crack down on a recent spate of vehicle larcenies. The Detroit Police Department is requesting assistance to identify suspects tied to a series of thefts that have seen valuables pilfered from parked cars.
One notable incident took place on July 16, 2025, just past the noon hour on Fisher Freeway. There, suspects targeted a black 2023 Dodge Ram, "forced entry into a black 2023 Dodge Ram and stole the infotainment system," as detailed in a news release by ClickOnDetroit. Then, on July 20, 2025, a white 2023 Mitsubishi Outlander suffered a similar fate in a parking garage on Grand River Avenue, where thieves made off with a pair black Ray-Ban sunglasses.
The Detroit Police Department’s 3rd Precinct has shared case numbers for the thefts—2507160346 for the Fisher Freeway incident and 2507200227 for the Grand River Avenue case. They hope these details will encourage the public to help. A $500 reward is offered for information that leads to arrests.
Investigators are urging anyone with knowledge about these suspects or the incidents to come forward.
