The Detroit Police Department has issued an appeal to the public for assistance in locating Maria Torres, a 52-year-old woman reported missing since Monday. Torres, who was last seen in the 1700 block of Van Dyke, is described as having a height of 5 feet, 3 inches, weighing approximately 220 pounds, with brown eyes and black hair. When she was last seen, she was wearing a white shirt and pink plaid pajama pants, as shared by ClickOnDetroit.
As concerns grow for her well-being, authorities have noted that her caregiver indicated Torres is living with bipolar disorder and schizophrenia, which adds layers of urgency to the search because she left her residence and has not returned since then. The police are intensifying their efforts to determine her whereabouts. The Detroit Police Department’s 7th Precinct is leading the search and is urging anyone with information about Torres’ location to come forward, reaching out through contact number 313-596-5740, according to the official details released by the precinct.
In conjunction with their on-the-ground efforts, the Detroit Police Department has also turned to social media, where they have actively posted about Torres' disappearance in hopes of reaching a wider audience. "Please help us find missing Maria Torres," pleads a post on the Detroit Police Department's Missing Facebook page, where authorities have posted her photo and relevant information to engage the community in the search.
