Detroit-Style Square Pie Guys Set to Debut in Campbell with Expanded Menu Beyond Pizzasquarepieguys.com

Square Pie Guys is expanding its footprint into the South Bay and bringing its Detroit-style pizza to Campbell. The chain, which first made waves in San Francisco's SoMa neighborhood six years ago, is set to officially roll out its first South Bay location at 501 East Campbell Avenue on August 5. As reported by Eater SF, this new venue isn't only aiming to serve up the much-loved square slices and 'cuppy' pepperoni, but also to introduce an expanded menu beyond their pizza prowess, featuring items from burgers to Szechuan wings.

The expansion reflects the ambitions of owner Marc Schechter, who began the pie business seven years ago. From its humble beginnings, Square Pie Guys has grown to include several locations throughout the Bay Area. Schechter's vision involves growing the chain to include between 10 to 20 locales, as he shared in an interview with San Jose Business Journal. This newest addition in Campbell will join a shopping center that previously housed an Indian restaurant, bringing with it the promise of a widely anticipated deeper menu that features some fan favorites from earlier years.

The Square Pie Guys team is not reluctant to experiment with their menu, which historically included, albeit briefly, items like Hetchy's Hots hot chicken sandwiches and even a smash burger—a fond memory of the Mission location that's poised to make a comeback in Campbell during the opening months. Furthermore, the Campbell location is gradually going to offer lunch options, which have already started in the other locations, including an Italian combo and a chicken parm sandwich using their pizza dough, according to Eater SF.

As new demographics of diners move into suburbs like Campbell, Square Pie Guys aims to cater to this growing audience. The recent success in Campbell via a licensing deal with Local Kitchens, a micro food hall concept, helped to highlight the demand in the suburbs—a strategic move outlined by Schechter who mentioned that sales data from Local Kitchens supported the decision to open a brick-and-mortar restaurant there. "It gave us the leading indicators to like ‘Oh yeah, we should expand to the suburbs,’" Schechter told the San Jose Business Journal. With features such as a soda machine and outdoor seating to complement the South Bay's warmer climate, the new location seems to be poised for success.

As it gears up for its latest launch, Square Pie Guys is committed to serving both original customers and newcomers alike. Their Campbell restaurant joins the ranks of an evolving chain that is set to make substantial contributions to the region's culinary scene. Square Pie Guys (501 East Campbell Avenue, Campbell) will be open from 11:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. Sunday through Thursday, and 11:30 a.m. to 10:30 p.m. Friday and Saturday, starting August 5 as per Eater SF.
