To commemorate this landmark anniversary, the county is throwing a celebration on Friday, Aug. 15, from 4 to 6 p.m. at the Millhouse at Philip S. Miller Park in Castle Rock, and everyone's invited. With a lineup of entertainment including fun, ice cream, and games, the event is set to honor the collective effort and achievements of the past 20 years.
Open to all kids, teens, families, and local heroes, the event is not just a mere occasion, but a spotlight on the unwavering commitment to support the area's youth. As the pressures on today's young people continue to escalate, the county and the Youth Initiative Advisory Board, led by Douglas County Commissioner Abe Laydon, have pledged to actively create opportunities "to connect, lead, and thrive." As reported by Douglas County, Laydon remarked, "We know that today's youth are navigating immense pressures and challenges that didn't exist a generation ago," which underscores the county's deep-seated resolve to stand by its younger citizens.
