Early this morning, a driver was injured after their vehicle struck a light pole and then careened into a Hollywood motel, police have reported. The incident, which occurred shortly before 3 a.m. at 1501 S. Federal Highway, led to the driver being hospitalized, with Local 10 reporting that fire rescue personnel assisted in liberating the individual at the Curtis Inn and Suites.
Surveillance video obtained by NBC Miami shows the alarming moment the car slammed into the motel, sending glass flying, and finally halting within what staff confirmed was a storage and supply area. As Hollywood Police Department officials explained, the driver, who had lost control of the vehicle, needed to be extricated by officers and fire rescue teams.
Jay Ghandi, manager of the Curtis Inn, told Local 10, “They took him there in an ambulance,” referring to Memorial Regional Hospital. The condition of the driver, following the accident, was not immediately available, but they were seen yelling in pain as rescue personnel moved them onto a stretcher, a scene depicted in the troubling footage.
