Last night, a distressing incident of alleged assault to murder shook the residents of a Duxbury apartment complex, when a man was accused of strangling a woman in the building's hallway. Details emerging out of a social media post by the Duxbury Police Department revealed that the suspect had been earlier removed from his girlfriend's apartment before the altercation took place.
According to the police report, the incident occurred yesterday around 9:30 p.m. The suspect, 31-year-old Brandon Wangnoon, allegedly entered another apartment uninvited, refused to leave, then escalated the confrontation by attacking the female victim. Witnesses reportedly had to pull Wangnoon from the victim, who claimed he threatened to kill her during the strangulation attempt. Officers arrested Wangnoon, who was found near the scene, and he now faces charges including Breaking & Entering Building Nighttime for Felony, Strangulation or Suffocation, and Assault to Murder.
The initial call to authorities described a male subject "strangling a female in the hallway of the apartment complex." However, by the time officers arrived at the location, the altercation had moved into an apartment. A resident of the building directed the police to where the incident transpired, enabling them to contact the victim and gather her account of the harrowing experience.
The Duxbury Police's post indicated that the victim and multiple witnesses were interviewed by the officers. This led to Mr. Wangnoon being charged with several serious offenses, as the evidence suggested a clear threat to the victim's life when he allegedly said, "I am going to kill you" during the assault.
