An apartment fire in the Oakley neighborhood of Cincinnati has resulted in one hospitalization and the displacement of five adults early Wednesday morning. The blaze, which took place in a first-floor apartment on Allendale Drive, began around 3 a.m., with firefighting crews arriving promptly to confront the kitchen-originated flames that had extended into the attic space, LOCAL12 reported.

Authorities confirmed that all occupants had self-evacuated by the time of their arrival. According to FOX19, the main body of fire was suppressed within six minutes from firefighters' intervention, however, it took longer to fully extinguish the fire due to its spread through an interior wall. One individual, suffering from non-life-threatening injuries, was taken to the University of Cincinnati Medical Center for treatment, and smoke detectors were reported to be present and functional during the incident.

The fire has led to the temporary displacement of residents from four families, prompting the Cincinnati Red Cross to step in and provide much-needed assistance. In a statement obtained by WLWT, Cincinnati fire officials estimated damages from the fire to be around $90,000. The cause of the fire remains under investigation, and the displaced residents are currently receiving aid to cope with their immediate needs post-displacement.
