Residents of Eden Prairie and visitors alike have a chance to pack their picnic baskets and savor the end of summer with a series of events showcasing music that's as pleasant as the greenery of the famously quaint Dorenkemper House. According to a release distributed by the City of Eden Prairie, you can catch the cozy, outdoor Picnic on the Farm event on Wednesday, August 20, from 6-8 p.m., transforming the historic site into a harmonious blend of past and present.
The Eden Prairie Historical Society offers tours of the Dorenkemper House, pushing attendees through the doors of one of the last standing log homes in the area, while throwing them back into the history that shaped Eden Prairie. Live music with local bands and solo acts set the soundtrack, and the offer stands to either purchase food and beverages on-site or bring your own spread. Free parking is available nearby at Riley Lake Park, located at 9180 Riley Lake Road, according to the City's announcement.
But wait—there's more melody to be had the very next day. On Thursday, Eden Prairie's Staring Lake Amphitheatre welcomes the Minneapolis-based band Sawyer's Dream from 7-8:30 p.m. Known for their harmonious blend that's sewn with threads of Americana, pop, rock, and soul, they've created an original sound that's as engaging as it is upbeat. As the City of Eden Prairie's latest bulletin describes, their music, "inspired by the writings of Mark Twain," merges the past with modern stylings, allowing for an earthy yet refined experience that echoes the classic rock of the '60s and '70s.
And for those whose guilty pleasure skews toward nostalgic hit-parades, fABBAulous has you covered on Friday, August 22. The tribute band promises a performance at Staring Lake Amphitheatre that's said to be nothing short of, well, fabulous—with their pitch-perfect renditions of ABBA classics. From 7-8:30 p.m., prepare yourself for an energy that's both infectious and reminiscent of disco balls and bell-bottoms, but without feeling like a relic pulled straight from a time capsule. The City of Eden Prairie's website invites attendees to "indulge in the mesmerizing melodies" and maybe, just maybe, unleash their own dancing queen or king.
