On Thursday, El Paso Community College played host to an event aimed at propelling student success to new heights. The Valle Verde campus's AST Building Flexitorium gathered academic tutors, support staff, and faculty for the 8th Annual Connecting the Dots Conference. This initiative, steered by the Office of Student Success, seeks to create a confluence of efforts benefiting EPCC students, as reported by the El Paso Community College news release.
Designed primarily for the enrichment of tutors and support staff, the conference showcased an array of sessions conducted mainly by EPCC's own, from tutors to librarians and beyond. Drawing in over 200 attendees, professional development was central, with strategies for creating welcoming learning environments highlighted, along with content-specific tactics to boost student success. Staff connectivity and wellness, often overlooked, were also spotlighted through various interactive sessions.
A focal point of the annual gathering is to honor those deemed Student Success Champions due to their unwavering commitment to the student body. Eight individuals received accolades this year—among them were operatives from diverse corners: disability support, counseling, orientation, human resources, and instructional services. They embody the EPCC's vision for student support and advocacy in their daily endeavors.
