El Paso ISD leaders convened at the Professional Development Center to participate in Leadership by Design, a strategic session aimed at propelling student success and district growth, as reported by El Paso ISD. Interim Superintendent Martha Aguirre praised the district's recent academic gains, celebrating the "B" score in the latest Texas Education Agency Accountability Ratings.
Despite acknowledging the achievements, Aguirre made it clear that aspirations were set beyond the current accomplishments. She believes that through an intensified focus on leadership and instructional finesse the district's rating could ascend to an "A", "Earning a ‘B’ rating is an achievement that reflects the dedication of our educators, leaders, and students" Aguirre said, "But our goal is higher, Together, we will continue to grow, innovate, and ensure that every child in El Paso ISD has access to an exceptional education," as per El Paso ISD.
The Leadership by Design initiative is a linchpin in El Paso ISD's strategy to cultivate an educational environment defined by innovation and inclusivity, providing principals and administrators with the necessary resources to bolster their leadership abilities. This initiative is aligned with the district's vision of transforming its schools into exemplary learning communities.
At the core of the program, participants engaged in a reflective analysis of the determinants behind the district's recent success, and they proactively scoped out areas needing enhancement, the discussions homed in on optimizing student outcomes, fortifying the cultural milieu of campuses, with an ultimate ambition to craft a Destination District where the community of students, staff, and families are nurtured and hold a sense of agency.
