Tensions flared on a Westway road Monday evening, leading to the arrest of 36-year-old Luis Daniel Delgado after he allegedly pointed a loaded handgun at passengers in another vehicle while under the influence of alcohol, as reported by KTSM.
The El Paso County Sheriff’s Office responded to the situation near Westway Boulevard and De Alva Drive, where the altercation was reported, Delgado, the suspect, was later apprehended during a felony traffic stop on Kiely Road in Vinton, just a short drive from the scene when the deputies found a loaded gun and an open alcohol container in his vehicle there was no mention of whether there were further altercations during the arrest. KFOX TV detailed the event, noting the swift action taken by law enforcement to defuse the potentially dangerous incident.
Delgado is now facing multiple charges, including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, driving while intoxicated with an open container, and unlawful carrying of a weapon, as confirmed by all reporting sources. The arrest took place without incident, and a loaded handgun was seized from Delgado's possession, which led to him being booked into the El Paso County Detention Facility, with his bonds totaling $23,000, according to KVIA.
