A tragic incident unfolded on Martin Luther King Blvd, where the El Paso Police Department's Special Traffic Investigations unit was called to a collision that left one person dead. According to the El Paso Police Department, the accident involved a 2017 Ford F-150 that was traveling south. The driver, in an attempt to avoid an initial collision, reportedly lost control, swerving into oncoming traffic and striking two other vehicles, a 2016 Hyundai Elantra and a 2019 Toyota Camry.
The aftermath of the crash was severe. The driver of the Ford F150, Oscar Lopez, was rushed to the hospital but unfortunately did not survive the injuries sustained in the accident. This incident has sadly marked the 39th traffic fatality of the year 2025 in the area, a number slightly lower than the 41 fatalities recorded by the same time last year. The investigation into this collision continues as local authorities actively seek to piece together all contributing factors.
