The Ysleta Independent School District is making substantial headlines with not one, but two of its institutions, the Young Women's Leadership Academy (YWLA) and Valle Verde Early College High School (ECHS), thoroughly dominating the El Paso high school rankings. U.S. News & World Report's 2025-2026 listing of the Best High Schools confirms their upper echelon status within the state of Texas. Surmounting expectations, these bastions of education are now being recognized for their exceptional performances both locally and statewide.
The Young Women’s Leadership Academy, a beacon for single-gender college preparatory schooling, has managed to not only become the top-ranking school in El Paso but also to snag the No. 40 position throughout Texas, and No. 312 nationwide. With an impressive 98.26 out of 100 score, YWLA boasts 93% reading proficiency and 95% in science. On a related note, their track record gleams with a perfect college acceptance rate since the class of 2022, according to Ysleta ISD.
Close on its heels, Valle Verde Early College High School showcases a flawless 100% graduation rate, coupled with a 99% participation in Advanced Placement exams. The ECHS takes pride in its No. 2 spot in El Paso and No. 49 in Texas, also earning a national rank of No. 385. Dr. Xavier De La Torre, Ysleta ISD’s Superintendent of Schools, commended the collective effort in a statement highlighting that their success represents "building the skills that prepare our students to thrive in college, career, or military service beyond high school graduation," as per Ysleta ISD.
Moreover, Ysleta ISD's educational prowess isn't confined to these two institutions. Eastwood High School, Hanks High School, and Bel Air High School were all placed among the top 20 public high schools in El Paso, while Del Valle, Riverside, Parkland, and Ysleta High Schools made their marks within the top 30. Each campus contributes to the solid reputation Ysleta ISD has cemented in the realm of academic excellence.
