A routine Wednesday morning at an Evanston hair salon turned into an unusual scene when a vehicle punctured the calm with its unwelcome entrance. ABC7 Chicago reported that a car crashed into the Great Clips located on Main Street in Evanston. At the time of the crash, the salon was occupied by customers and employees, but, fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Details provided by CBS News Chicago indicate that the incident occurred around 10 a.m., when an 84-year-old woman, who had intentions to park her 2013 Subaru Forester and patronize the salon, inadvertently hit the accelerator instead of the brake. This action sent her vehicle lunging through the glass storefront.
The Evanston firefighting authorities, attending to the crash, assessed the building and confirmed that aside from the interrupted window, there was no major structural damage. There was a collective breath held, perhaps, in the pause that follows such unexpected events—a breath exhaled in relief as no physical harm had befallen those present. Perhaps it was fortune's favor, or just the simple physics of angles and speed, that no one stood in harm's way when the car came to rest nearly halfway into the business.
Following the accident, police cordoned off the salon, necessary for both the investigation and the immediate repairs. Crews were quickly dispatched to board up the disrupted facade and ensure the integrity of the entrance for the safety of the public. The salon was closed, giving the staff and patrons a moment, however unintended, to reflect on the unforeseen disruption of their day, as reported by ABC7 Chicago.
