A former Fort Bend County Sheriff's Deputy faces a sexual assault charge following a recent grand jury indictment. Deputy Whitney Johnson III, who had been with the department for almost two years, was terminated immediately after the indictment, with events unfolding due to allegations related to off-duty conduct, as reported by Click2Houston.
Johnson's bond was set at $75,000, and records show he has posted bail. This indictment does not only cast a shadow on Johnson's brief tenure, but it has likewise prompted a response from the Texas Commission on Law Enforcement regarding his arrest, which came after an investigation involving the Sheriff's Office Internal Affairs section and the District Attorney's Office.
According to a statement obtained by ABC13, Fort Bend County Sheriff Eric Fagan addressed the situation, emphasizing the department's standards, "We hold our employees to the highest standards, and this alleged misconduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the values of the Fort Bend County Sheriff's Office."
In light of the allegations that surfaced in May, Johnson faced suspension from the force and an internal affairs probe delved into the matter, whereupon his indictment he was promptly discharged from his duties as steps were taken to uphold the integrity of the law enforcement body and pursue justice without exception. As Sheriff Eric Fagan put it, "We serve with integrity and pursue justice without exception," as noted by Click2Houston. Johnson is scheduled to appear in court on September 29 to face the sexual assault charge.
