Starting on the evening of August 11, roadwork is slated to commence on LA 16 both northbound and southbound in Livingston Parish, which could lead to possible delays in travel. As reported by the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development (DOTD), this construction work will result in alternating and intermittent lane closures from US 190 to LA 1019. The roadwork will be carried out nightly from 8:00 PM to 6:00 AM and is expected to conclude on the morning of August 16, pending favorable weather conditions.
Maintaining the flow of traffic during this necessary inconvenience, the DOTD has advised that partial closure will affect alternating lanes in both directions. Motorists are being provided a detour itinerary to help navigate around the roadwork zones. According to the official DOTD announcement, northbound travelers can reroute using US 190 East to LA 1031 North, then onto LA 1030 East, LA 1026 West, LA 64 West, and finally taking LA 1019 North to reconnect to LA 16. For those heading southbound, the detour follows LA 16 South to LA 1019 West and proceeds along the same connecting routes in reverse order to reach US 190.
The DOTD notes that these measures are a part of the ongoing Road Construction Project H.014482, which aims to maintain and improve the state’s road infrastructure. Recognizing the impact such projects can have on residents and commuters, the department urges drivers to exercise caution and patience while the work is underway and to be mindful of workers and equipment in the construction zone.
