A Fairburn, Georgia man is facing federal charges following a series of events that culminated in his arrest by the FBI. Christopher Robertson, 42, known also as James Lomak, appeared in federal court after he posted multiple videos on social media platforms, making threats against Jewish and Black communities, as detailed in a statement from the U.S. Attorney's Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
According to the U.S. Attorney's Office, last Wednesday, Robertson was spotted at the Jewish Federation of Greater Atlanta, where he told security that he was "the official spokesperson for the white race." After being turned away from two Jewish institutions, his online activities raised alarms. In one Facebook post, accompanied by an image of a loaded pistol, Robertson allegedly threatened a "cultural genocide" of the white race, claiming “I will not tolerate cultural genocide get that understood -- I will fight for it, I will die for it, I will kill for it.”
United States Attorney Theodore S. Hertzberg expressed grave concern over the situation, stating, "Protecting the community from hate-fueled violence is a foundational part of the Department of Justice's mission, and we will aggressively prosecute criminals who abuse the internet to terrorize and intimidate others." Special Agent in Charge of FBI Atlanta, Paul Brown added, that the FBI will continue to work diligently to ensure the safety of the residents, as noted by the U.S. Attorney's Office.
The incidents prompted heightened security around approximately 80 Jewish facilities in the Atlanta area. Following a particularly disturbing visit to a Chabad in Peachtree City, where Robertson made threatening remarks, his behavior escalated. He later posted a video to Facebook threatening to murder Black people, stating, “We will kill the s*** out of you guys. . . . We will f***ing murder you.” After a federal court issued a warrant for his arrest, the FBI arrested Robertson last Friday following a lengthy stand-off at his residence, according to the same press release.
This case is currently under investigation by the FBI. Assistant United States Attorneys Brent Alan Gray and Bret R. Hobson are leading the prosecution. Public inquiries are being directed to the U.S. Attorney's Public Affairs Office, while the case continues to unfold. Robertson is being held in custody and is awaiting his next hearing, scheduled for Thursday, August 7.
