A tragic family dispute in Atlanta escalated to lethal violence yesterday morning. Officers responded to a call at 3005 Peachtree Rd NE around 2:28 am after a report of a person shot was made. On arrival, they found an adult male with a gunshot wound inside an apartment, confirmed Atlanta Police Department.
The victim was promptly taken to the hospital by Grady EMS, where he was, unfortunately, pronounced dead. In a statement obtained by the Atlanta Police Department, the suspect and the victim were cousins, with the former having come to visit from Florida. A dispute between the two family members is said to have intensified, ultimately leading to the fatal incident.
Authorities detained the male suspect at the scene without delay, who is currently being held at the APD Public Safety Headquarters. Charges are pending as the investigation continues to unfold. Neither the victim nor the suspect has been publicly identified at this time as officials work to piece together the events that led to this somber outcome.
