
A recent collision at the intersection of Memorial Dr. SE and Boulevard SE has resulted in the death of a motorcyclist. The Atlanta Police Department (APD) responded to the incident, which took place on August 20h, at approximately 11:35 pm. According to the report released by Atlanta Police Department, upon arrival, they discovered an unresponsive male who was involved in the fatal accident. Emergency medical personnel pronounced the man deceased at the scene. He was found to have been operating a Harley Davidson motorcycle.
Initial findings in the ongoing investigation have revealed that the male motorcyclist was traveling west on Boulevard when the other vehicle, a BMW SUV, failed to yield adequately while turning left. As a result, the SUV collided with the motorcycle. The female driver of the BMW SUV remained at the scene following the collision. APD's Accident Investigations Unit quickly arrived to further determine the circumstances surrounding this tragic event.
The identity of the motorcyclist has not been released, pending notification of next of kin. The Atlanta Police Department statement details that the investigation is still active, with APD's Accident Investigations Unit meticulously working to piece together the events that led up to the collision. The department has yet to determine whether any charges will be filed against the driver of the BMW SUV.
